Fayetteville-based technology incubator Virtual Incubation Co. has formed Atlantic Virtual Incubation Co. LLC in an effort to expand its developmental reach.

Calvin Goforth founded VIC in 2000, and said Bernie Prusaczyk will serve as AVIC’s president and CEO. The new company will be based in Waltham, Mass.

“His experience in executive management in both young entities and smaller divisions within multinational corporations gives him a unique skill set to help drive our AVIC operation and lead new portfolio companies on the right paths to success,” Goforth said in a news release.

In other VIC-related news, the Arkansas Science & Technology Authority announced funding for three of its portfolio companies in September.

BioDetection Instruments received a $150,000 investment to further develop a biosensor system company officials say can diagnose disease within 20 minutes, while Ascendant Diagnostics and TiFiber received $100,000 each.

AD’s money will be used to develop its method of screening tears for early detection of breast cancer, and TiFiber will use its funds to commercialize patent-pending technology used in health care and other markets.
