Forty Under 40: Robin Simpson, 38

Robin Simpson jokes about a love for problem-solving that dates to her first algebra class.

“I was that kid,” she said.

Nowadays, Simpson finds financial solutions that best fit her clients’ lives. The evidence is a loan portfolio that ranges from $6,000 to $45 million.

But lending hasn’t always been her primary focus. Simpson started out with an equity research firm, and even after moving into banking, worked in securities licensing, as a stockbroker and managing retail investments before taking her current job. Simpson doesn’t see more moves on the horizon, and said she’ll stick with what she’s doing “as long as I’m enjoying it and helping people.”

In doing so, Simpson tries to sell people on the same positives she’s pitched since leading BancorpSouth’s Northwest Arkansas expansion.

“Our size allows us to do some projects that others can’t do by themselves, but we still maintain a community feel,” the Mountain Home native said.

Simpson enjoys devoting time to the United Way of Northwest Arkansas, serving on its community investment committee, and SAKE, the student-run business at the University of Arkansas.

Otherwise, she enjoys spending time with her two daughters and following the fortunes of her husband, an assistant football coach at Har-Ber High School.
