Aikman promoted to PR post at ABF
Russ Aikman has been promoted to director of marketing and public relations for Fort Smith-based ABF Freight System. He replaces Danny Loe, who was recently named vice president of yield management for the company.
Aikman now is responsible for market strategy, new product development, Internet and intranet initiatives, advertising and public relations, according to a statement from ABF. He has been with ABF for 11 years, most recently as manager of the ABF TurnKey, Information Center and ByRequest departments. Aikman also served previously as a regional training specialist with ABF in Dallas and a management trainee in Kansas City, Mo.
“During his 11 years of service to the transportation industry, Russ Aikman has developed the skills and insights needed to guide the marketing and public relations efforts of our company,” Roy Slagle, ABF senior vice president of sales and marketing, said in a statement.
ABF is a less-than-truckload trucking company that has local service centers in all 50 states, Canada, Mexico, Guam and Puerto Rico. The carrier serves 250 ports in more than 130 countries. ABF is the largest subsidiary of Arkansas Best Corp. Arkansas Best employs about 9,500.
