Troubled Arkansas banks find online home
We must say, we feel a little behind.
That’s because we never had heard of BankImplode.com, a Web site self-described as “Your play-by-play for the end game of modern banking.”
How’s that for dramatic flair?
Regardless, the site accepts advertising and links to various blogs. That’s the relative good news.
The bad news is BankImplode.com is generally difficult to read, and one of its apparent reasons for existence is to allow its creators to compile an unofficial list of troubled banks. The list is based mostly on calculations tied to tier 1 capital ratios.
Most of the banks are far away from Arkansas, but you probably guessed there are a few from the Natural State on the list.
As of December 2009, Metropolitan National Bank of Little Rock was ranked No. 204, First Federal Bank of Harrison came in at No. 437, First Western Bank of Booneville came in at No. 489, Pinnacle Bank of Rogers landed as No. 500. Bank of Little Rock was No. 520 and Legacy National Bank of Springdale was No. 521.
