L.E. Davis Construction of Harrison has been named one of 12 finalists for Contractor of the Year by Equipment World magazine.

Davis Construction, which traces its history in north central Arkansas to the 1880s, was nominated by John Duke of Riggs Cat in Little Rock.

The Contractor of the Year award, now in its ninth year, was created by Caterpillar to recognize companies with between $1 million and $10 million in revenue who exemplify high construction standards.

CEO Larry Davis and his father, W.E. Davis, formed the company in its present form in 1970 with four divisions. Davis performs excavation and utility work, has a residential development arm building condos and subdivisions and also does commercial and industrial jobs.

Its commercial construction division specializes in medical offices and banks. It also built the Harrison High Football Field House and the Bath & Idea Center for Noland Co.

As a finalist, Davis Construction will receive a write-up in Equipment World, plus a four-day trip to Las Vegas for two to attend a NASCAR race on March 1. The Contractor of the Year award will be announced at a banquet the night before the race.
