In a June 2 Whisper, we noted an ad by Home Bancshares Inc. of Conway. It read: “Financially troubled companies make the news. Stable ones make the ads.”
We’ve since learned the ad made its inaugural run in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette’s central Arkansas edition May 10 on the jump page to the story related to ANB Financial’s failure.
Mike Sells, principal of the Sells/Clark advertising and public relations agency of Little Rock, which designed the ads, said they were intended to target the national news, not to make light of specific banking troubles in Arkansas.
