Springdale Book Nearly Sold Out

If you haven’t purchased a copy of “Year of the Dog,” you better hurry because supplies are running short.
Only about 200 of the 5,000 copies that were printed of the book about Springdale High School’s 2005 state championship football team remain unsold. The 200-page hardback written by Kurt Voigt, preps editor for The Morning News, went on sale for $24.95 in late December.
“It was a little bit of a surprise for us,” said Stacy Fott, publishing coordinator for Stephens Press LLC of Las Vegas. “We had more calls about that book and how to get it around Christmas than any other book we have.
“I guess we underestimated the appeal of high school football in Arkansas, but the response has been pretty phenomenal.”
Fott said no decision has been made on whether there will be any reprints of Year of the Dog. Once it’s sold out completely, the company will evaluate the book’s sales history and future demand before deciding, she said.
“I’m thrilled,” Voigt said. “It has nothing to do with me and everything to do with an incredible team. I was just fortunate to be a part of it all.”
