Cain Corrals Financial Gig

One of the most respected sports scribes in the state is tackling a new endeavor. Scott Cain, who spent the last 11 years of his two-decade career covering the Razorbacks for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, is joining Banc of America’s Investment Services division in Rogers as a financial adviser.
Cain spent the past three years as the lead beat writer on Hogs basketball and the previous eight years as the lead on Hogs football. His replacement has not been named.
Covering both the football and basketball teams game-for-game, both home and away, meant many nights and weekends away from his family, Cain said, but now he said he’s reached a stage in his life where it was time to put family ahead of his career. He has been married for 16 years and has three children — all girls between the ages of 7 and 12.
Cain said he was fortunate to have this opportunity because he has no background in financial services. A good friend, Tom Blumer, finally convinced Cain it would be an easy transition since it was all about people skills.
Cain said he will spend the first few months of his job training for the Series 7 test, which is required by the Securities and Exchange Commission for financial analysts. He’ll then train in Charlotte, N.C. before returning to Rogers.
