Betting on Hog Futures
The chance of John David Terry’s e-mail-gate lawsuit against the University of Arkansas ever seeing trial is a long shot at best. The Hogs’ chances of winning the Bowl Championships Series national title are a little better.
According to at least one Las Vegas sportsbook, Arkansas and 2006 Heisman Trophy runner-up Darren McFadden are a 30-1 shot to win the BCS title in 2008.
Not surprisingly, Southern California is the odds-on favorite at 5-2 followed by University of Michigan (7-1) and defending champ University of Florida (8-1).
Arkansas is rated a better bet than Week 3 opponent University of Alabama (80-1) and Week 11 foe University of Tennessee (50-1) and almost as good as neighboring powerhouse, University of Oklahoma (22-1) of the Big 12.
Arkansas finished the 2006 season 10-4 with a loss to the University of Wisconsin in the Capital One Bowl. The Badgers are also given 30-1 odds to win the national title.
