Hotels Book Up for Hog Football
Of the 12 University of Arkansas Razorback football games scheduled this fall, eight are home games and six of those are booked for Fayetteville: Southern California on Sept. 2, Utah State on Sept. 9, Alabama on Sept. 23, Southeast Missouri State on Oct. 14, Ole Miss on Oct. 21 and Tennessee on Nov. 11.
In Fayetteville, the Clarion Inn and the Radisson Hotel are already booked solid for all six Fayetteville games. The Hampton Inn has one smoking room available for the Utah State game. The Holiday Inn Express is booked full for the season opener against Southern California for the Sept. 2 weekend but are “booking fast” on the other home games.
Southern California, the NCAA champions for the past two years, will be by far the biggest draw. On a Travelocity.com search for a hotel room in the Fayetteville area for the nights of Friday and Saturday, Sept. 1 and 2, there was only one hotel out of 32 on the Web site that had rooms available — the Super 8 in Siloam Springs.
Going north up Interstate 540, the Holiday Inn Northwest Arkansas in Springdale was near full occupancy in late July, with only a few rooms available Sept. 9.
The Embassy Suites said it had about 130 of its 248 rooms available for days around Sept. 9, about 60 rooms for Sept. 23, and about 110 rooms for Oct. 14.
