Springdale Insurance Agencies Merge

Walker Brothers Insurance Inc. and First Arkansas Insurance/Springdale Inc. merged on May 1. The new agency will operate under the Walker Brothers Insurance name.

Mike Luttrell said the merger will increase Walker Brothers’ revenue by about 40 percent. Walker Brothers Insurance is owned by Mike Luttrell, 38, his father, Adrian Luttrell, 68, who has worked for the company since 1967, and employees of the firm through a stock option plan.

Pat Girard, the principal owner of First Arkansas Insurance/Springdale, will assume a sales role with the merged agency. All the employees of Girard’s firm will work for Walker Brothers. The combined agencies will employ a total of 24 licensed insurance agents offering property, casualty, health and life insurance products.

“We are both primarily consumer-driven, independent insurance agencies,” Mike Luttrell said.

Within the next six months, First Arkansas Insurance/Springdale will move from its office at 3880 Willowood Ave. to the Walker Brothers office at 6800 Isaac’s Orchard Road in the Har-Ber Meadows subdivision in west Springdale.

Girard, who has more than 39 years of insurance experience, has held an ownership interest in First Arkansas Insurance/Springdale for the past 14 years.

Walker Brothers Insurance was formed in downtown Springdale in 1932 by Lowry, Calvin and T.J. Walker.
