KFSM Leads DMA in November Nielsens
KFSM, Channel 5, led the 11-county dominant market area during all three weekday evening newscasts in the November household ratings from Nielsen Media Research.
KFSM, the CBS affiliate, had a 13.3 share at 5 p.m., compared to 8.3 for KHBS/KHOG, Channels 40/29, the ABC affiliate. KFSM also led KHBS+ 13.1-to-9.4 during the 6 p.m. newscast and 10-to-8.8 at 10 p.m.
KFSM usually leads the rating in the DMA, which includes Northwest Arkansas, Fort Smith and two counties in Oklahoma. KHBS+ usually wins the ratings war when Northwest Arkansas is split out from the entire 11-county area.
In November, KFSM led at 5 p.m. in Northwest Arkansas, but KHBS+ took the ratings lead at 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.
KNWA, the NBC affiliate, stopped subscribing to Nielsen’s trade area report last year, so ratings for that station weren’t provided.
“Rating” is percentage of television households in the area.
KFSM is owned by The New York Times Co. KHBS+ is owned by Hearst-Argyle Television Inc. KNWA is owned by Nexstar Broadcasting Inc. of Irving, Texas.
Nielsen Media Research rates the stations four times annually: in February, May, July and November.
