KIGL Ties KKIX in Arbitron Ratings
KIGL-FM, “The Eagle,” 93.3 FM, a classic rock radio station, has tied country-music format KKIX-FM, 103.9, in the spring Arbitron ratings.
Clear Channel Communications, which is based in San Antonio, isn’t complaining. The company owns four radio stations in Northwest Arkansas, and they’re the top four, according to the Arbitron ratings. Clear Channel also owns No. 3 KEZA and No. 4 KMXF.
“We don’t concern ourselves with who’s No. 1 and No. 2,” said Tony Baringer, vice president and market manager for Clear Channel. “We just want to be the top four.”
KIGL jumped from 6.8 a year ago to an 8.6 rating this past spring. During the same time period, KKIX dropped from 14.2 to 8.6.
