Zinger?s Ghosts
When Angie Geels started renovating a Springdale building to be home to her new restaurant, Zinger’s Sports Bar & Grill, nobody told her the place was already occupied.
Geels said she first noticed strange noises in the attic of the building at 130 W. Emma Ave. It sounded like someone was pacing back and forth.
A woman who worked at the Cookie Express next door was relieved when Geels told her about the noise. She said it meant the neighborhood ghost had gone back home to its usual roost above the restaurant.
The Zinger’s building previously housed Macomber’s restaurant and many years ago was home to a movie theater. Geels said the alleged ghost was supposed to have been a man who ran the movie projector.
If that wasn’t enough, Geels said, she has learned that the building is also supposed to be inhabited by the ghost of a 14-year-old boy. If a customer is rude, the boy allegedly pulls drawers out after closing time and dumps silverware all over the kitchen floor.
“I was in the women’s restroom, and I was cleaning out the sink, and I looked in the mirror and saw somebody walking behind me in the hallway,” said Holly Magnuson, a waitress at Zinger’s. “When I looked out in the hall, nobody was there.”
“I was standing by the cash register talking to Holly,” said Tonya McGehee, another waitress at Zinger’s. “I looked over and saw somebody. Then, when I looked back, it was gone. It was just a vague image, but I think it was the little boy.”
