Steve Ramos was recently named night editor of Bentonville’s Benton County Daily Record, a section of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.

Formerly a political columnist and city editor for Mexico City’s 900,000-circulation daily, Ramos earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas and a master’s from Southern Methodist University. He has also worked for the Dallas Morning News.

An Oct. 1 article in the section said Ramos wanted to move to Northwest Arkansas because he loves the outdoors. Kent Marts, the Daily Record‘s editor, said Ramos has already become an asset.

“He brings a renewed enthusiasm to the newsroom,” Marts said. “Steve brings not only a fresh outlook to the editing process, but to the reporting process as well.”
