Motivator Down by the River

Paul Rainwater, president of Rainwater’s Clothing in Fort Smith, has become an affiliate of Waco, Texas-based Success Motivation International Inc. He will serve Fort Smith and Northwest Arkansas.

SMI is a motivational program founded by Paul Meyer in 1960. Rainwater will begin his first meetings with area business March 19.

“The idea is to train professionals by going into companies and change their way of thinking,” Rainwater said. “This program will affect their mindset and their goals.”

Rainwater said he was won over by the program when he listened to a Meyer speech.

“[Meyer] said everyone has a success barrier in their mind that they believe they can never go past,” Rainwater said. “There are all kinds of mental excuses. SMI not only tells you you can go beyond that barrier, but it specifically tells you how to do it. It’s all between the ears.”

Rainwater said the SMI program is much different than buying a motivational book.

“After people see this, they see what they really can accomplish,” he said.
