Industry Report – Tyson Joins Hunger Fight

Springdale-based Tyson Foods Inc. recently completed its initial pledge with the anti-hunger organization Share Our Strength when it donated 650,000 pounds of chicken to food banks across the country and a United Way in Wilkesboro N.C.

rThe $10 million, three-year partnership with Share Our Strength is part of Tyson’s 65th anniversary celebration.

rIt will include a total donation of 6.5 million pounds of chicken. The total gift will provide 32.5 million meals to people at risk of hunger.

rThe initial donation helped to provide more than 3 million meals to people in many cities throughout the country, including many people in Northwest Arkansas and Little Rock.

rAlso aided by Tyson’s chicken donation were the cities of Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, N.C., Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, Louisville, Ky., Miami, New York, Pittsburgh and Wilkesboro, N.C.
