UUUPS!
On June 1, United Parcel Service began inspecting all packages that contain breakable goods. The packages are opened and inspected when brought in to be shipped to make sure the contents aren’t already damaged.
It seems there had been so many claims against UPS for allegedly breaking items during shipment, the company had to do something. And the Springdale office is supposed to have one of the highest rates of damaged shipments of some 30 UPS drop-off locations in the region. We hear there have been many claims that computer equipment was broken when shipped from the Springdale office.
So if you’re shipping breakable goods via UPS, pack them safely and don’t bother taping the box shut. They’ll just tear it open again at the drop-off point and reseal it for you there.
