Hertz so Bad

We hear some of the Wal-Mart shareholders who flew into the Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport to attend the annual shareholders’ meeting on June 4 had a little trouble finding Fayetteville.

It seems that the Hertz Rent A Car desk at the new airport in Highfill has maps of Benton County sitting on the counter for customers to take. But customers who were in the area to attend the shareholders’ meeting were heading south to Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville. And a map of Benton County didn’t do them much good.

Fayetteville’s not even visible on that map.

Not long after the new airport opened last year, the Hertz desk was still giving out maps of the Fayetteville area. Now, those are kept under the counter and will be furnished upon request. But some people who fly into XNA apparently don’t realize that Fayetteville isn’t in Benton County.

“We didn’t realize how many people go back to Fayetteville,” a clerk at the Hertz desk told us. “That’s why we have two maps here.”

Did Hertz think that, simply because the airport moved north, nobody would be driving to Washington County from XNA?
