Kinco set to go

We hear Kinco Contractors’ bid to build the University of Arkansas’ new indoor track facility has been accepted.

Details of the deal are still being worked out between the Springdale construction company and the Razorback Foundation, a non-profit organization that raises money for UA athletics.

Tyson Foods Inc. of Springdale donated $3 million for the project that will be southwest of Baum Stadium at George Cole Field on Arkansas Highway 16. Preliminary plans called for 6,500 seats and a design and landscaping similar to that of Baum Stadium and the Willard and Pat Walker Pavilion.

Construction should be done by November, and the UA has already secured next year’s SEC Indoor Track and Field Championships competition. An effort is already underway to lure the NCAA Indoor Championships to Fayetteville.
