A deal to buy the last piece of property adjacent to the new regional airport but still inside the city limits of Bentonville is scheduled to close within a week.

Brooke Van Dyke, president of V.C.C. Inc. of Rogers, has a contract pending on the 40-acre tract at the north end of the airport. The land has one-quarter mile frontage along Arkansas Highway 12.

Another key element to the land value is the availability of utilities. The water and sewer lines that connect the airport to Bentonville utilities are across the highway from the property.

Currently, there is a home and several chicken houses on the property. The buildings are being removed to make room for future commercial development. Van Dyke declined to reveal how much he paid for the property, which he purchased from Jay Hawk Development Co.

A sign went up on the property last week advertising the Van Dyke Airport Center commercial development.
