The building that once housed a National Home Centers Inc. store in the Spring Creek Centre in Fayetteville was sold July 15 for $5.9 million to Home Depot U.S.A. Inc. The deed was signed by Dwain Newman, chairman and CEO of National Home Centers.

National Home Centers built the 155,652-SF store at 675 E. Joyce St. in 1994. The company closed the store last year citing low sales. The building and 15 acres of land were appraised in 1995 for $7.87 million.

Home Depot already has received a building permit from the city to spend $2.7 million remodeling the building. The company is based in Atlanta and has several stores in Arkansas.

National Home Centers has sold several stores in the past year. The company plans to abandon retail sales and focus on sales to contractors.
