A new Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant is being built in Fayetteville with a $998,750 mortgage from the Bank of Arkansas.

The 3,380-SF restaurant is under construction at 2992 N. College Ave. The estimated cost of the building is $450,000. The remaining amount of the mortgage was used to purchase the land.

The mortgage was signed by Robert and Phyllis Mott of Corrales, N.M.

The ownership of the property was transferred from Newmark Foods Inc. to the Motts. Robert Mott is president of Newmark Foods. The Midway Liquor store at 3010 N. College Ave. was demolished to make room for the construction.

Newmark Foods has bought six KFC restaurants in Benton and Washington counties since December. The purchases include restaurants in Springdale, Fayetteville, Siloam Springs, Bentonville and Rogers.
