Harps Food Stores finished renovation of its 34-year-old store in Springdale’s Plaza Shopping Center on April 15 and began renovations of its store in Fayetteville’s Fiesta Square shopping center the next day.

“I didn’t have a day off,” says J. Max Van Hoose, director of construction for Harps Food Stores, which is based in Springdale. “We went straight from one project to another.”

The renovations are estimated at $943,000 for the Springdale store and $850,000 for Fayetteville.

When completed, both stores will have added an indoor branch of Community Bank and a Harps pharmacy. In addition, the Fiesta Square store will also have a clinic, Northwest Family Care, located in the southwest corner of the building.

The Springdale store had been closed since Jan. 11 for the renovations. The old 20,187-SF store is now 22,948 SF and has a new facade.

The 50,000-SF Fayetteville store was closed from April 18-24 for plumbing work and new shelving. Its name has been changed from Price Cutter Food Warehouse, which was owned by Harps, to Harps Food Store. The remodeling won’t be complete until late June or early July, says Van Hoose.

Harps has 41 stores: 32 in Arkansas, eight in Oklahoma and one in Missouri.
