Gathering No Sign of Retreat
The Bank of Elkins has made some clever moves in the past, so it’s not surprising that, when its directors gather, it’s a retreat of a different sort. The latest meeting of directors and officers was even in a different place: the beaches of North Carolina.
Bank president Joyce Bunch says the directors usually gather somewhere locally for three days late in the year. During that meeting, they review events taking place in the banking world, particularly in Northwest Arkansas, and try to decide how the Bank of Elkins should proceed.
But last year, Bunch says, “Everybody was so busy, we couldn’t get everybody together.” So they opted for a delayed planning retreat – billed instead as a planning “advance” – extended the stay and, during the first week in July, took everybody to North Carolina.
