Fayetteville-chartered Arvest Bank is the largest privately owned bank in Arkansas in terms of assets. At the end of 2014, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. reported the bank had assets of $14.94 billion.

Naturally, that makes Arvest the largest of the eight banks (five in Washington County and three in Benton County) that are based in the two-county area of Northwest Arkansas.

So where do the others fall? According to the FDIC, Fayetteville-based Signature Bank of Arkansas, which opened as a legal bank in May 2005, ranks No. 2 among banks headquartered in Benton and Washington counties, with total assets of $504.5 million as of Dec. 31.

Ranked No. 3 by the FDIC is The Bank of Fayetteville, with assets of $346 million.

At No. 4 is Legacy National Bank of Springdale, which is celebrating its 10-year anniversary this year and had assets of $321.24 million at the end of last year.

United Bank of Springdale ($142.21 million), Parkway Bank of Rogers ($125.65 million), Bank of Gravett in Gravette ($117.81 million) and Pinnacle Bank ($89.99 million) round out the list.

Combined, the eight banks that are headquartered in the two-county area have total assets of $16.59 billion.
