Bob Taylor, president and CEO of Parkway Bank of Rogers, was recently installed as 2014-15 chairman-elect of the Arkansas Bankers Association. That puts Taylor, who was vice chairman of the ABA last year, in line to become chairman of the organization in 2015-16.

That much you may have heard. But did you know local bank executives Mary Beth Brooks and Jon Harrell have also been added to the ABA board?

Harrell, local market president for Hampton-based First Bank in Rogers, was nominated and elected as a new director from the Northwest Arkansas region.

He is replacing former Arvest Bank executive Dennis Smiley, whose term expired May 15.

Brooks, president and CEO of The Bank of Fayetteville, accepted an appointment to the board by incoming chairman Chuck Morgan, president and CEO of Relyance Bank of Pine Bluff.

Each chairman, according to ABA bylaws, is allowed up to four appointees to serve during his or her one-year term.

Brooks, Davy Carter, Elizabeth Farris and Wilson Moore were Morgan’s appointees.

The ABA is the state’s largest and oldest banking industry organization and represents banks, bank holding companies and savings and loans in Arkansas.
