Great Turnover
And still more bank buzz. For the second time in six months, Great Southern Bank is looking for a Northwest Arkansas market manager.
John Summers, who was just announced in March as the Springfield, Missouri, bank’s top local executive, is no longer working for GSB.
Summers, a Russellville native and previously an executive with Bank of the Ozarks, replaced James Smith, who resigned in December.
A GSB spokesman said Summers’ last day was May 16, but did not give a reason for his departure. We do know Summers has joined BancorpSouth Bank in Fayetteville as vice president and commercial lender. His first day there was May 27.
GSB opened its second Northwest Arkansas location June 2, a full-service branch at 2552 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in Fayetteville. The bank may not be done expanding its footprint either. A source told Whispers that GSB is considering adding a few more banking centers in Northwest Arkansas in the next two years.
