CVS Has Eyes on Springdale Intersection

Walgreens, the largest pharmacy chain in the United States, will soon have a little more competition at the intersection of Highways 71B and 412 East in Springdale.

Whispers hears CVS, the second-largest pharmacy chain in the U.S., plans to buy and tear down the Sunrise Inn, a motel that sits on 2.5 acres across the street from Walgreens.

RE/MAX Associates owner Brett Hash, who listed the foreclosed property for $1 million, said back in June that a “national tenant” had submitted a letter of intent and purchase negotiations were underway.

When Whispers followed up with Hash a few weeks later, he refused to say who was buying the property. But give Whispers a little credit. Hash is not the only person we know in Northwest Arkansas.

What might be a secret in Springdale is no secret in Bella Vista. The Bella Vista Planning Commission on July 8 approved plans for a 13,000-SF CVS at the intersection of Bella Vista Way and Mercy Way.

With the addition of the Bella Vista and Springdale locations, CVS will have upped the number of Arkansas stores to three. According to the company’s website, the only CVS currently in the state is in Texarkana.
