New Dialysis Center Fills Need in Rogers

The city of Rogers, with a population of 55,964, was previously the largest city in Arkansas without a dialysis center. That is no longer the case.

RenalSouth Dialysis Center of Rogers opened March 14 at the corner of Walnut and 37th streets. CEO Tommy Carter and medical director Dr. Shamsul Alam are the owners.

The center’s opening in Rogers breaks new ground in several areas. It’s the first dialysis clinic in Northwest Arkansas to use exclusively licensed nurses for all dialysis treatments, and also the first clinic in the region to use MIQS Disease Manager Plus, a coded software system that is dialysis specific.

The center is also the first to use a dialysis machine integrated with clinical data exchange. It provides caregivers with chairside access to both the treatment and medical information data in order to provide real-time adjustments to therapy and care plans.

“We have the most modern and technologically advanced dialysis equipment available,” Alam said in a press release. “And we utilize a medical software system which has been shown to improve patient outcomes.”

The facility will have 18 stations and provide in-clinic hemodialysis, as well as the option of home training for both hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.

Clinic physicians will be experienced in dealing with a number of conditions including chronic kidney disease and end stage renal disease.

Patient and family comfort is also a priority at the center. Patients will enjoy heated dialysis chairs, wireless Internet, individual LCD televisions with DVD capability and expanded cable channels.

“The comforts of home are important considerations for patients who are required to spend several hours at a time undergoing treatment,” Carter said in the release. “Our overall goal is to make our patient experience the best it can possibly be.”
