CBS affiliate KFSM-TV announced recently it will begin airing its morning news program at 4:30 a.m. That’s earlier than any of its Northwest Arkansas competitors.

The change will begin April 4.

“Lifestyles are changing and people are waking up earlier,” news director Rick Bagley said in a news release. “There is an audience for news that early in the morning, and it’s even more important to know the weather and headlines so you can plan your day.”

Ashley Beck and Mitch Roberts will continue to anchor “Wake Up With 5NEWS,” alongside meteorologist Jason Adams.

KFSM also announced it was the most-watched television station in Northwest Arkansas, according to Nielsen ratings for the month of February. An accompanying news release indicated KFSM won in every newscast, according to total household share and rating.

“These gains are a testament to our coverage of breaking news,” general manager Van Comer said in the release.
