Jones Trust Announces New COO

Betsy Reithemeyer, CEO of the Jones Trust, recently announced COO Roy Clinton’s retirement, which was effective Sept. 1.
Replacing Clinton is Mike Gilbert, who brings 30 years of business experience to the job, along with “a strong commitment to nonprofits.”
Reithemeyer, in a letter addressing the change, praised Clinton for his work “during a time of financial uncertainty.”
“Through his leadership, he successfully completed the development, making Har-Ber Meadows the outstanding community it is today…”
The letter continues before further thanking Clinton for “a tremendous job in strengthening our nonprofit partners relations and future planning for the Springdale campus. … Roy has worked hard his entire career, always thinking of how best to serve others, especially those who most need our assistance…”
Bernice Jones, following the sale of Jones Truck Lines, created the Jones Center for Families, along with the Jones Trust. Recent years have been tough times for the trust, which has steadily fallen in size.
Earlier this year a report commissioned by the trust suggested that converting the Jones Center for Families to a fee-based facility could generate more than $1 million annually.
It’s a controversial idea. For years the ever-popular recreation center (which opened in 1995) was free, though in 2008 the Jones Center began charging for some services.
