Vype Hype

While most recent media news relates to layoffs and cutbacks at newsrooms around the nation, one local publication is growing.

Vype, formerly known as High School Sports The Magazine, is launching River Valley and Central Arkansas editions in April.

The River Valley edition is a spin-off from the Western Arkansas magazine and will focus on the Fort Smith region. The Northwest Arkansas edition will focus on Benton and Washington counties with coverage of Huntsville High in Madison County as well.

Vype also recently released a comprehensive state recruiting summary with reports from every college and university.

Vype enjoyed a successful debut of its first statewide high school football preview last fall, selling around 10,000 copies through Wal-Mart. We hear that was around double the amount sold by Hootens, which was previously the only provider of a statewide prep football preview.
