The ink is still drying on the lease agreement, but the national engineering powerhouse Carter & Burgess Inc. will have an office in the Bank of America building in Fayetteville. The Fort Worth-based company with a civil engineering and land development concentration has one statewide 43-person office in Little Rock and 28 locations nationwide. It also offers architectural services, but not in our state.

Kip Guthrie will be heading up local efforts.

Guthrie is an alumni of Carter and most recently came over from Garver Engineers to work for Carter again.

Carter’s portfolio includes the relocation project of U.S. Highway 71 in southwest Arkansas from Texarkana to the Louisiana state line, in addition to the program management contract with Arkansas State Parks.

In 2004, the firm ranked No. 30 on the Engineering News-Record “Top 500 Design Firms” list.
