Forty Under 40: Marcus Necessary

Marcus Necessary enjoyed a quick rise in the Northwest Arkansas real estate market to become the top overall agent at Weichert Realtors-The Griffin Co. in Arkansas, Missouri and Kansas. He now aims to sustain that success while raising children and enjoying family life in the same community where he’s sold hundreds of homes since becoming a Realtor in 2003.

“I can’t imagine doing anything else,” said Necessary, who has now worked in real estate for one-third of his life. “I love the thrill of getting that house negotiated for a buyer or listed for that seller and creating a better experience for everyone.”

Necessary became a principal broker at age 26, “super young,” he said, “so I didn’t have all the business acumen, but I really enjoyed the training.”

He remains an executive broker with Weichert Realtors-The Griffin Co., but prefers to focus on selling. He considers it the ultimate compliment that the majority of his clients find him by referral.

He grew into the work naturally. His grandfather worked in construction, and as a kid he rode along to check job sites. His grandfather paid him $4 an hour to pick up trash. Later on, his grandfather encouraged the career path and paid for the schooling. Although Necessary admits he’s inclined to pile too much on his plate, the lifestyle suits him as a husband and father of two.

“My long-term goal is now to be there when my kids are playing T-ball,” he said.
