Carnall Inn Development Co. has dropped its plan to open a jazz supper club in the UARK Bowl building and has put the 9,600-SF events center up for sale for $2.1 million. The club was slated for a soft opening on Oct. 7.

Richard Alexander, one of the partners in the development, said the owners “just got too busy” to run a jazz club.

“We decided to go back to reconcentrating on developing real estate,” he said.

Alexander said the owners would also consider leasing the events center, which includes a furnished 5,600-SF restaurant, bar, kitchen and elevator.

The building owners have been leasing the facility for private events since it opened in 2002. The UARK bowl owners include Alexander, Rob Merry-Ship, Ted and Leslie Belden, and Lamar Anderson, who owns Hugo’s restaurant in Fayetteville.

The part of the building for sale or lease doesn’t include 14 condominiums on the second floor or the space that houses two businesses that face Dickson Street, Mickey Finn’s Irish Pub and Geno’s Pizzeria.
