Susan Combs wanted to work from home, so she started her own business selling pens, pads and other gadgets to local companies using their logos.

Combs said she can get just about anything a company may want with their logo imprinted. She works with a number of different factories that manufacture logo-imprinted trinkets and other items.

“I sell a lot of pens,” she said, adding that she can also get notepads, mouse pads, calculators and a varitey of other desktop accessories. “There are thousands of products.”

Combs said she started selling logo-imprinted goodies more than 20 years ago, but she hadn’t worked since moving to Rogers from Little Rock about three years ago. An illness kept her from starting the business sooner, but Combs said she’s better now and working hard.

In fact, she’s already making plans to expand her advertising business and is currently interviewing potential part-time employees. Combs said she likely won’t add more staff than that in the coming year, but business is good enough she needs some support.

Competition is thick in the local advertising market, but Combs said she concentrates on customer satisfaction which helps her stand out in the business.

Combs declined to disclose how much she’s invested in the new business, but she said it has been relatively inexpensive to get back into logo-imprinted advertising sales. She believes she’ll make a return on her investment in the first year of operations.
