Nick Dozier didn’t have much of a selection for electives in the ninth grade. He could have taken Spanish or home economics, but he opted for a computer technology class and found a career. Dozier is a 2000 graduate of Rogers High School, a part-time business student at the University of Arkansas and the owner of a growing computer technology business.

He borrowed $15,000, much of it from his parents, and launched Dozier Technology Group in September. Since then, the business has brought in enough money for him to repay those debts and save some cash for expansion.

The firm’s ability to attract some large companies with its Web-design and Web-site host abilities has led to its success, Dozier said. Dozier Technology has also developed a niche in helping companies set up computer systems using tablet computers, which are notebook-size computers without keyboards.

Dozier operates from an estimated 500-SF office in downtown Fayetteville, but will soon have 1,500 SF of office space in the Pinnacle development in Rogers. Dozier said he’ll likely keep both offices open, but hasn’t made a final decision on the issue.

Dozier said he believes his business will double over the next year.

Dozier has two full-time and three part-time employees, in addition to himself.
