Magsam, McKay Take D-G Biz Editor Slots

John Magsam was promoted in late January to business editor for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette’s Northwest Arkansas operation. He is the fifth person to head the business staff since the inception of the newspaper’s weekly “Business Matters” section in 1996.

Magsam has been with the D-G’s Springdale operation for five years, serving as assistant business editor for the past three years.

He replaced Chris Sheffield as business editor. Sheffield left that job in December and in March was hired as editor of the daily DeSoto Times Today in Hernando, Miss.

Serenah McKay, night editor at the Benton County Daily Record, will replace Magsam as assistant business editor. She was scheduled to begin that job the first week of May.
