Ronald Cox, vice president of development for St. Edward Mercy Health System, was awarded the Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation by CFRE International. Cox is one of more than 5,400 professionals worldwide to earn the designation, according to a hospital statement.

Cox has been employed by St. Edward Mercy for 13 years, and has worked in his current role for eight years.

Individuals granted the CFRE credential have met a series of standards set by CFRE International, which include a minimum of five years in the profession, 80 hours of education, 50+ hours of community service, a demonstration of fundraising achievement, and a commitment to service to not-for-profit organizations. Initially, candidates must pass a written examination testing the knowledge, skills, and abilities required of a fundraising executive.
