Shodo ("the way of writing") is Japanese calligraphy. Shodo, an art form that has been studied for over three thousand years, is a specialized art using a brush and black ink to write kanji and Chinese characters. “When the mind is correct, the brush is correct,” expresses in few words the essence of Shodo. Excellence in calligraphy is considered to be the proper attainment of every cultured person. Learn from our Japanese visiting scholar.
