After working for 10 years as a physical therapist, most recently at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale, Ray Yumang decided to open his own clinic. The 1,100-SF home of A. Yumang Rehab Services PA offers a full gym and two treatment rooms for physical therapy and a room for massage therapy.
Yumang considered Fayetteville and West Fork for the office, but he chose Springdale because it seemed to need the service more than other towns.
Yumang received his degree in physical therapy in 1990 from Cebu Doctors College in Cebu, Philippines. Before opening his office, Yumang worked in outpatient and rehabilitative physical therapy.
Recently, Yumang graduated from the Northwest Arkansas School of Massage in Fayetteville, becoming a licensed massage therapist. Adding massage therapy to the office’s services will set it apart from other physical therapy clinics in the area, Yumang said.
“The key is I’m small,” he said. “I want the patient to be the focus of the treatment. I can provide as much care as they need.”
Patients from all age groups are welcome at the clinic, which also accepts Medicaid and some insured patients. Opening the office cost about $40,000.
