Size does matter

Work on Wal-Mart Stores Inc.’s latest distribution center has barely begun and already the new facility has been supersized.

It was originally supposed to be a 600,000-SF structure, but recently plans for the center were nearly doubled to 1.1 million SF. Sources say it will handle every kind of product sold by the world’s largest retailer except groceries.

We hear the expansion is an attempt to keep up with the growth Wal-Mart expects over the next few years.

Construction is supposed to be completed around May 27.
