Springdale to vote on liquor by the drink
Springdale voters will decide March 23 if they want liquor to be served by the drink in that city.
The Springdale City Council decided Feb. 9 to hold an election on the issue.
Currently, Springdale follows state law, which requires restaurants to operate as private clubs if they want to serve mixed drinks. That means patrons must buy a membership to be served in the clubs.
Several cities in Arkansas — including Fayetteville and Fort Smith — have legalized liquor by the drink, thereby doing away with the requirement for club memberships.
