HI says ‘goodbye’ to Texas

It’s true that Hawgs Illustrated has signed a deal with Democrat Printing & Lithographing Inc. in Little Rock. Clay Henry, HI’s publisher and principal partner with Hawgs Illustrated Inc. of Fayetteville, was using Trend Offset Printing in Carrollton, Texas, but a series of printing problems prompted the change.

The switch means HI’s more than 3,000 subscribers in Little Rock will now get the publication faster, and it will take a little longer for subscribers in Texas.

Henry and partner George Billingsley of Bentonville bought HI Dec. 1 from College Sports Communications Inc. in Dallas. Trend had always been used because it was close by, but the company didn’t specialize in magazines like DP&L does.

DP&L prints 155 magazines per month and has its own in-house second-class postal clerk, making delivery even faster.

We hear the fact that a Hoghat was sitting on top of the company’s web press that will print HI did not hurt the negotiations.
