Solamente Lo Mejor, an upscale Mexican restaurant at 708 N. College in Fayetteville, closed July 29. The restaurant had been in business since October 1997.
John Hill, a cook for the restaurant, said the building owner wanted Danny Morales, the restaurant owner, to pay $10,000 in property taxes for the next year in addition to $3,000 per month in rent.
“So he moved the business to Fort Worth,” Hill said. “The terms of the lease were just not worth our while.”
Hill has subsequently gone to work as a cook for Cafe Nibbles in Fayetteville.
