Something Urban, a women’s fashion store in Fayetteville, is relocating to Dickson Street after a $24,000 renovation of the former Texaco gas station by building owner Lamar Pettus.

Something Urban, owned by Amy White, has been located on East Center Street near the downtown Fayetteville square since opening Sept. 1, 1999. It will move into its new building across Dickson Street sometime this September.

White said her store will enjoy about 1,000 SF of space as opposed to its current 400 SF.

The Texaco building has been vacant since last December when an automobile detail shop occupied the space. Prior to that, it had been vacant for four years. A fire had caused cosmetic damage to the building in 1995. Pettus has also replaced the heating system, added an air conditioning unit and repaired the roof.

White said she hopes the Something Urban’s new building will be open in time for the first University of Arkansas on-campus football game — Sept. 23 against the University of Alabama.

“We are Hog fans and I figure Dickson Street will be pretty busy that day,” White said. “We want to make it a fun place to come in to.”
