Congress gets poor performance rating from Arkansans
If you are a member of Congress facing re-election in 2010, new survey results from TalkBusiness.net suggest a tough election cycle.
According to the survey, 69% of Arkansans “somewhat disapprove” or “strongly disapprove” of Congress, with 47% of those in the “strongly disapprove” category. On the flip side, just 26% “strongly approve” or “somewhat approve” of what is going on in Congress. Only 5% strongly approve.
And although Arkansans typically vote for Democrats, the survey results indicate more of a bias for Republicans.
The new poll was conducted through a partnership with Brock, and Little Rock-based political consulting groups The Political Firm and The Markham Group. Brock and his TalkBusiness.net is a content partner with The City Wire. The poll questions and results were:
Q: Do you approve or disapprove of the job the U.S. Congress is doing in Washington D.C.?
5% Strongly Approve
21% Somewhat Approve
22% Somewhat Disapprove
47% Strongly Disapprove
5% Don’t Know
Q: If the 2010 elections for U.S. Congress were held today, for whom would you vote for Congress in the district where you live?
32% Republican candidate
13% Lean Republican candidate
25% Democratic candidate
9% Lean Democratic candidate
21% Unknown
“Arkansans, and Americans in general, have had a disdain for Congress as a whole for some time, but our poll results highlight a troubling trend for local Congressional officials, especially Democrats,” Brock noted in his report.
