UAFS pageant recognized as Local Pageant of the Year
For the second year in a row, the Miss University of Arkansas at Fort Smith Pageant was honored on the state level by winning the 2009 Local Pageant of the Year.
Stacey Jones, associate vice chancellor for campus and community events, was presented the award at the 2009 Miss Arkansas Pageant, held July 15-18 in Hot Springs. Jones also serves as a producer for the state pageant.
“The pageant award is a great tribute to all those students and staff at UA Fort Smith and people in the community who help make our pageant the best,” Jones said. “This award has only been given twice and UA Fort Smith has been the recipient both times.”
Jones has served as the local pageant director since the program’s inception in 1978. He has been a pageant judge in Arkansas and Oklahoma and works with contestants from other local pageants to help them prepare for the state competition.
