The 19th Annual Riverfront Blues Festival kicked off Friday night (June 26) and featured Curtis Salgado, Roomful of Blues, and Grammy-winner Robert Cray and The Robert Cray Band.

Scheduled to take the stage Saturday night are Eric Lindell, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, and Jackie Greene.

The Fort Smith Riverfront Blues Society was formed in 1993 to promote the American form of “The Blues,” and to support the redevelopment of downtown Fort Smith, according to the organization’s Web site. Funding for the society is through membership dues, corporate and private donations and fund raising events. In addition to the blues festival, the group holds fundraisers to support the festival and provides the “Blues in the Schools” educational program to local schools.
